Are you looking for a summer job where you can earn money and have fun? This pool management company has been operating since 1970. They hire lifeguards to work at apartment pools, neighborhood pools, and country clubs.

Employer prefers lifeguards willing to arrive before the Memorial Day Weekend.

If you can stay later than September 1th, you could do post season work until the end of September.

Wage and housing

WAGE:

First time guards: $15/hour 

Returning guards: $15.50/hour 

Managers: $16.50/hour

Guaranteed hours: 40 hours with a lot of over time in the begging and end of summer ranging up to 25 hours extra

Overtime: yes, sometimes, 1.5x base wage

Days per week: 5-6 days, hours per week: 40-50

Additional hours are possible at the beginning and end of the summer season. There may also be additional opportunities for work and compensation by teaching swim lessons or guarding swimming pool parties.

BONUSES:

  • Start date no later than May 23 –  if you come before May 23rd will pay $1100.00 of your fees to come over here + $300.00 for lifeguard training reimbursement in first paycheck in the USA
  • Start date no later than May 30 – if you come after 23rd but before May 30th will pay $800.00
  • Start date after May 30 no later than June 20 – if you come after May 30th will pay $400.00

All the above-mentioned bonuses apply if you work at least until September 1st.

HOUSING:

The cost of housing is $180/week + a $200 nonrefundable administrative fee that must be paid before each guard arrives or deducted from the first paycheck (in addition to the cost of housing) and will include the uniform (swimsuit and one Douglas Aquatics branded shirt).

Utilities (gas, electricity, water, trash) are included in the monthly cost.
Apartments are furnished with beds, living room table and chairs, microwave, refrigerator, lamps, and Heat and Air Conditioning. Bed kitchen table and dishing washer dryer.

Usually 5 or 6 people share the unit, 2 or 3 people per room, 2-3 bedrooms, living room, kitchen with stove, oven, refrigerator, sink. Students should provide their own linens and houseware. Kitchen dishes are provided.

Transport and location

Richmond is generally the cheaper area for living, but on the other hand, it is further from Washington.

How to get there? ✈ We recommend to fly to Richmond. Pick-up at the airport: Provided by the employer

Employer will pick you up between the hours of 7am and 6pm from RIC Airport, Richmond Greyhound Bus Station, or the Richmond Mega Bus station.

How to get to work? Walk, ride a bike, or drive a car* (*for distances 5+miles from the pool)
Students will have one rental car per apartment. Students may ride a bike to work with 5 – 15 minute commuting time. Bikes are not provided.

Transportation to and from work – If the pool is close enough to the house you can by a bike or if its more then 5 miles we will provide a car to drive but you would be responsible for the gas and tolls.
